Woodcroft

The Woodcroft Neighborhood.

Conveniently located in the southwest Durham area, close to I-40, Hope Valley Farms has a wide selection of homes for prospective buyers to choose from – ranging from the mid 100s to the mid 300s. Also nearby are Duke University, UNC-Chapel Hill and North Carolina Central University – all within less than a half-hour drive!

Hope Valley Farms residents enjoy impressive amenities and recreational choices like both the American Tobacco Trail and the Third Fork Creek Trail. Hope Valley Farms benefits from its central location in our beautiful state, making any adventure possible and in driving distance. RDU airport is also only a 20 minute drive away. The heavily wooded area offers a more graduated look over newer neighborhoods. Those same woods also provide homes to many kinds of local wildlife like deer, foxes, and owls. A centerpiece of Hope Valley Farms is its 18 hole golf course designed by famous course designer Donald Ross.

Hope Valley Farms was envisioned by Mebane & Sharp, an automobile dealer and a real estate broker respectively. They dreamed to create a residential community with a suburban park lifestyle that catered to educators and professionals. In 1926, work began as Mebane & Sharp purchased 1,095 acres of land and began development.

Lots were offered for $3,000 each and by 22 months only 172 lots were sold. By 1955, over 91 families lived in Hope Valley Farms. Today, very few modern homes are built in Hope Valley Farms. Instead, the timeless architecture of 1920s and 1930s homes stand triumphantly.

Shopping and dining are close by, too. Thanks to the addition of The Streets of Southpoint Mall, there is a wide selection of options ranging from big box stores to small, family-owned boutiques. The YMCA has also recently built its 4th Durham location here at Hope Valley Farms!

Woodcroft is a community of over 2,000 homes designed with nature coexistence in mind. Much like Hope Valley Farms, Woodcroft has quick and easy access to many local trails and bike paths for residents to enjoy. The six miles of community trails also serve to connect neighboring areas and landmarks, such as Southwest Elementary School, the Woodcroft Swim and Tennis Club, and the Woodcroft Professional Center.
